Water Column (Kit)
Product Description
Water Column (1/48)
Dims.: 3.3″W x 4.0″H x 1.5″D
Product is unpainted.
Directions:
1) Construct base using wood glue. Sand using 400 grit paper. [Note: NGM-I916 Aged Concrete]
2) Construct brick and drain assembly. Laminate parts to cardboard. [Note: NGM-I974 Box Car Red and NGM-I913 Grimy Black; white oil wash used to simulate mortar]
3) Use fine file and slowly file any showing mold seams. [Note: only file on the ‘push’ stroke which will prevent file from clogging]
4) Drill holes in upper assembly. A drill bit will ‘drift’ in white metal so go slowly. Start with bit smaller than chain. Use ‘slow’ running speed and increase hole size by pushing the running bit in and out of hole like a file. Check hole regularly to adjust where hole is best to be widened so chain fits.
5) Drill hole in weight (wood). Bend hook from copper wire strand, loop last link onto it, insert in weight hole. [Note: recommend regular CA]
6) Insert chain into upper assembly using a needle and thread. Glue chain to side of mounting tab (rear side) and use same needle to postion the chain in place. Glue lower chain to upper assembly using same method. [Note: recommend Loctite Gel Control]
7) Bend Pull Arm (brass rod) using a small steel rod (or drill bit) as the form. Bend ends of pull rod (mounting side) to 22.5 degrees using pliers. [Note: recommend Loctite Gel Control]
8) Paint all column parts and add wheel as last component. [Note: NGM-I913 Grimy Black] For dry water marks, a white ‘oil’ wash was created. For wet water marks, use NGM-1206 Streaking Rain. For rust, use NGM-I204 Streaking Rust]
